About Us

What does your project require?? How can we best serve our clients needs??
These questions lie at the heart of the ethos of SiX Architecture. All projects are essentially about problem solving. Excellent, appropriate, sustainable and economic design is key and so is the implementation process.

SiX Architecture was formed in 2012 by Simon Gatehouse and Marco Guevara, following five years of successful collaboration at Simon’s previous practice McMorran and Gatehouse Architects.

Excellent design solutions, which fully answer the challenges of a Client’s particular brief, with style and economic rigour are fundamental to a successful outcome. Equally important we believe is the procurement process by which these solutions are arrived at.  With 35 years accumulative experience in private architectural practice, the partners wanted the new enterprise to focus very clearly on providing a service which is designed to suit the varying requirements of our client base.

SiX Architecture is therefore organised into a series of six ‘Service Divisions’ each of which provides service expertise tailored to the needs of our varied client base. From designing and delivering small domestic projects for private clients, to providing detail design and construction consultancy for developers in this country (and further a field in South America,) there is a service division to suit.

Simon Gatehouse

BA Dip Arch RIBA

Simon trained at the Universities of Newcastle upon Tyne and South Bank in London. Qualifying in 1985, he worked abroad in Paris and for Chapman Taylor Partners in London where he rose to the position of Executive Group Architect.

In 1989 he teamed up with William McMorran to form McMorran and Gatehouse Architects which he led until its closure in 2012. At M&G, he managed the London head office and was responsible for a number of high profile projects including: The New Lewes Library, headquarters for the Royal School of Church Music and the Community Carers Hub at the Woodlawns Centre in Streatham.

Early in his career, Simon also worked as a builder in his own right and with the advent of SiX Architecture he is keen to rekindle a long held view that Architect and Builder could and should work together in a non-confrontational/contractual manner to provide a true Design Build service for the Client.

Simon is fluent in written and spoken French. He has served as a member of the Royal Borough of Kingston Design Review Panel, and for six years was a Governor at Elliot School, Wandsworth, actively assisting the school on its BSF programme.
